Want your content to come alive?

Hi Reader,

Want your content to be “on fire?” And feel that it’s “come alive?”

I’ve got a stupidly simple framework I created that I teach every client, and it does exactly that.

And funny enough, it only exists because I’m, in fact, not a content creator. And I have really bad imposter syndrome about content.

But, let me back up.

When I first started putting my own thinking out here, rather than posting for a company, I was so intimidated it’d take me weeks to post something. (And then I’d have to text all my friends to like it when I did).

And when I looked at all the content frameworks out there? MOFU, BOFU, TOFU. Engage, entertain, inspire. Content matrices. Post this type on Mondays, that type on Wednesdays, something else on Fridays.

It paralyzed me even more.

So I threw all of it out and asked myself one question instead:

What am I actually trying to do here?

And the answer was simple. I’m trying to build a network of people who know me, trust me, and like me.

So how do I get people to know me more, trust me most, and like me best?

Turns out each of those words has a type of content that does exactly that.

That’s the framework. Know, Trust, Like.

KNOW (40%)

Expertise: What you want to be known for.

Industry insights, your point of view, your perspective on what’s happening in your world. “How I did a thing…” Which is important, because AI killed the “how-to” post. Nobody needs you to explain how something is done in general. They want to know how you did it.

TRUST (40%)

Social proof: What others say about you.

This is “how my client did a thing” instead of how you did it.

Earned media. Case studies. Testimonials and recommendations. Process transparency. Collaborations.

Personal: Who you are beyond the work.

Your obstacles, your values, your stories, the behind the scenes of you as a person.

Now, Like content performs better. More people can connect with it, so it reaches further, and it feels really good.

It’s oftentime also the hardest to make yourself post.

But the only reason why people even care about your Know and Trust content? It’s because they Like you.

Which is why the ratio is important. We’re mostly living in Know and Trust, because that’s how people know what you do and sell. But without Like, none of it lands.

The thing is, your ego isn’t going to be as excited about the engagement on Know and Trust posts. That’s fine. Because those are the ones that help people realize you’re also competent at what you do.

The best hack for all of this?

Your calendar.

What conversations did you have yesterday? Last week? Last year? Five years ago? What questions did people ask you? What problems did you solve? What situations did you get into?

That’s your content strategy.

It’s you. Uniquely your experience, your expertise, your stories. AND it’s AI-proof, because nobody else lived it.

I know it looks like a massive oversimplification of content, and maybe it is.

But it also works, and it’s the reason my clients tell me their content finally sounds like them AND speaks to their dream clients.

Toodles, Natasha

Hi Reader, Last week Kit commented on my celebratory post of crossing 1k newsletter subscribers. Because, in the PS. I shamelessly said how much I want to be a guest on the Nathan Barry Show. Then I tagged Kit and I tagged Nathan. An hour later I got an email from their social media manager, wanting to hear my story and turn it into content for their page. She mentioned that Nathan Barry reads what they put out. (HOW COOL IS THAT?!) Now, in the moment I felt ridiculously silly for doing it....

Hi Reader, I crossed 1,000 subscribers last week! This is wild to me because of how things started out.Since you're one of the people here, I’m going to share the journey, what surprised me, and offer you a gift as a thank you. The story of this list is not a growth story. I announced I was starting a newsletter in May 2024 (!), found out a week later I was pregnant (🙈), and shelved the thing… for a full year! Then I launched it last May with 250 people and sat at exactly 250 for six straight...

Hi Reader, When people think about who "wins" on LinkedIn, they picture coaches, creators, consultants. The usual suspects. They don't picture a contract manufacturer. But one of my clients is a manufacturing shop. Think 3D printing, CNC machining, finishing...the kind of business most people assume has no place on LinkedIn. And yet this year, he's on track to grow roughly 50%. A big part of that? What we built with his presence on LinkedIn. Here's what changed: When Jason came to me, his...
