Hey Reader, Everyone is freaking out about reach on LinkedIn right now. "I've been shadowbanned!" (yes.. seriously saw this) Literally everyone seems to be talking about it. (THAT and how you shouldn't use the em-dash anymore since that's apparently a clear tell it was written by AI - as if the em-dash didn't exist before AI. But that's a tangent for another day. 👀) I was on a podcast last week (Mastering Tech Growth - check it out!) and got asked about this obsession with vanity metrics. My take? Try not to pay attention to them. Now, of course, I don't want your post to die in the algorithm. There are best practices to follow to give your content the best opportunity for visibility. But here's what everyone's missing: The real magic happens with Content + Conversations. If you're doing that right, you're not at the whim of the algorithm. The more conversations you have in comments and DMs, the more your content shows up in those people's feeds. And then THEIR network sees it too. It's like a ripple effect that no algorithm change can touch. For example — I just signed a client who was a 2nd-degree connection. She booked a call with me after seeing my content - but only saw it because of 1 mutual connection who commented on my post. One comment. That's the power of conversations over vanity metrics. What to Focus on InsteadStop trying to win the algorithm. Start winning relationships. Ask yourself: If you're doing this consistently, you're going to get eyes on your content from people who actually need your services. The algorithm is:
But you CAN control:
The Real LinkedIn StrategyFocus on building relationships, not chasing reach. When you do this right, you won't even notice when "reach is down 30%" because your business keeps growing anyway. While everyone else is panicking about the latest algorithm change, you'll be having meaningful conversations that turn into real opportunities. That's sustainable growth. Until next time, P.S. Next time you see someone complaining about their reach being down, ask them: "How many meaningful conversations did you have in the comments this week?" That's usually where the real problem lies. |

Hey Reader! I'm writing this on Saturday while my son takes his 2.5 hour nap. This is my creative/me-time when I'm not distracted by client calls, LinkedIn, or all the other 100 things it takes to run a business. And it got me thinking about something I hear all the time: "I'll focus on LinkedIn when I have more bandwidth." What I've recently learned as a business owner, breadwinner, mom, and wife: Things don't slow down. Busy is just life now (not in a bad way, I love my life). But I don't...
Hi Reader, That's what a client asked me when we were wrapping up our engagement. She wasn't being sarcastic, she was genuinely stunned. She came in thinking I was just a LinkedIn coach.A lot of people do. And I get it. "LinkedIn coach" sounds like someone who tells you to post more and get more engagement. That's not what this is. What you actually get inside my program: → A fully optimized profile with custom branding and messaging (not a template, yours, done with you)→ Podcast-style...
Hi Reader, I'm not ready yet.... but I'll keep you in mind. You know that line, right? The polite brush-off that sounds promising but usually means nothing. My client Scott heard it at a biotech event about a year ago. The guy seemed interested, it was a good conversation. But: "We're not looking for anything right now." Most people would've followed up once or twice, then moved on.Scott did something different. And six months later, that same person sent him a LinkedIn DM: "Hey, we're ready to...
