Toronto, an expired passport, and a new client

Hey Reader,

This is late . Usually my newsletter hits your inbox first thing yesterday morning. I even have a few of these written and sitting in the bank, so it wasn't a content problem...it was a life problem.

I'm flying to Toronto today for a speaking engagement and found out on Tuesday that my passport expired. So I've spent the last 48 hours frantically sorting that out instead of doing the things I normally do.

I didn't post Tuesday either, haven't posted today. And YET I still signed a client yesterday! (Which means there's one spot left in the cohort! wink wink) but that's not really why I'm telling you this.

I'm telling you because I think a lot of you have the belief that you have to always be on. Posting daily, in the DMs, engaging, showing up everywhere, every day, or it all falls apart.

It doesn't have to work that way.

Life lifes. You get sick, your kid gets sick, you have a trip, you have a launch, you have a passport that decided to expire three weeks before you needed it. The question isn't how to never have those weeks. You will have them. The question is whether what you've built can survive them.

That's what a flywheel is. You put real effort in at the beginning to get it spinning, and then it keeps turning even on the days you can't push.

Mine looks like this:

→ A profile that sells for me while I'm at the passport office
→ Relationships I've been maintaining for years, not just the ones I made this week
→ Conversations that already moved off the platform
→ Content that's still working from three months ago
→ People who know exactly what I do and refer me without being asked

None of that required me to show up yesterday.

And it's funny, I'm seeing so many posts with people freaking out about September being their worst month for impressions. Unsurprisingly? I couldn't tell you what mine were. Yet, it was one of my best months. I have no idea what happened to my impressions, because that number has never once been the thing that moved my revenue.

The algorithm is going to do what it does. So build something that doesn't depend on it.

That's the work in the REALationship Growth Method. Not posting more, sending dozens (or even 100s - yuck!) of dm's. You're building the thing that keeps turning when you stop. Heck I have a client who hasn't been posting much because she's been so busy off the platform (!) - and still someone found her on LinkedIn and signed with her!

Anyways, you don't need permission from me. But maybe you need to hear someone say it: take the break!

LinkedIn will be there tomorrow. So will the people. So will the pipeline. But, make sure you've built that flywheel underneath it. And if you need help...maybe that final spot has your name on it??

Toodles,
Natasha

P.S. One spot left in the final cohort of the year. We kick off at the end of October and spend three months building exactly this, the system that keeps working when life does life. Reply "LFG" and I'll send you the details.

Hi Reader, Liz shared something that gave me tapping toes (you know…of excitement??). She recently had her BIGGEST month she's ever had in her business. 🥳 When Liz joined my cohort, her LinkedIn didn't reflect her at all. She had a stock photo of a person writing, a couple of books she'd worked on 8 years ago, and a lot of outdated info. She'd connect with people she met, and that was about the extent of it. Which is wild, because Liz does really incredible work with incredible people (she's...

Hi Reader, Today is my 3-year business anniversary*! And last week I was about to blow the whole thing up. 👀 Not entirely! But closer than I'd like to admit, and am still working through that as I type this. But let me rewind: (*technically it's 3 years since I signed my first client, launched my biz 3 months AFTER. See todays post for more info on that!) WHERE I'VE BEEN 3 years of building the plane while flying it. It started with 1:1 clients and B2B teams. Then about a year ago I launched...

Hi Reader! Today at 12pm ET / 9am PT I'm running a live workshop: 3 Things I'm Prioritizing on LinkedIn as We Close Out 2026! If you can't make it live, register anyway and I'll send you the replay. You'll have 24 hours with it. [REGISTER LINK] Now, let me tell you why I'm doing this at all. I'm a terrible hard sell. I don't know how to do it and I gave up trying to learn it (goes against everything in my body). I've been pressure-sold before and I hated the way it made me feel. So you'll...
