do you light up the room?

Hi Reader,

Has anyone ever told you that your energy is contagious? Your passion is magnetic? That people just feel your vibe when you walk in?

Think about that for a second. Because if that's true about you in person...

Now go look at your LinkedIn profile.

Is it doing the same thing?

When you walk into a networking event, or honestly any room, you can read it. You can feel people's energy. You can spot your people almost instantly, just by their vibe. That's because real life is multidimensional. Energy travels.

LinkedIn is flat. One-dimensional. It's a screen. So all that magnetism you have in person? It doesn't automatically come through. You have to put it there on purpose.

That’s exactly what you’re trying to do.. Bringing your essence to your presence on LinkedIn.

Just last week, I was on a call with someone who thought his LinkedIn was pretty good. And on paper, it was! Active, complete, nothing wrong with it. But then I met him in person, and I was floored. "Dude," I told him, "I never would have guessed this is who you are.”

In person, he's magnetic. His passion is off the charts.

The next day after we spoke, he sent me a message. He recently went to a meeting with the executive director of a major national nonprofit. By the end of that one conversation, the ED told him his energy and passion were contagious and he made him two offers on the spot: a speaking slot at their upcoming retreat, and a seat on her board.

That's who he is in a room.

But none of that magnetism was showing up on his LinkedIn. The thing that makes people offer him board seats after one conversation is completely invisible online.

“So again what I can do in person needs to come out on social, LI, marketing, etc. and it doesn't for whatever reason. I’m in.” He wrote me.

So that's what we're fixing. Taking everything that makes him unforgettable in person and making sure it comes through on the screen too.

Because, the truth is, many people will meet you on LinkedIn before they ever meet you in real life (if they ever do meet you IRL these days!)

LinkedIn is that room and your profile is your presence in that room. And if it's flat, they'll never know the magnetic version of you exists.

So I'll ask you again. Go look at your profile. Your headline, your about section, your content.

Does it feel like you? Does it light up the room?

If the answer is "eh, not really," that's not a knock on you. It just means the best version of you hasn't made it onto the screen yet.

And that's a very fixable problem. (And you can start with my Profile Glow Up!)

Toodles,
Natasha

P.S. If your in-person self is crushing it but your LinkedIn doesn't show it, that gap is exactly what I help people close. Reply "LFG" and I'll tell you what that looks like.

Hi Reader, I want to make a case for one of the smartest investments you can make in your business. (you can probably guess it) → Your personal brand. One of my clients put it better than I could. When I asked if she' felt she’d gotten a return on our work together, she said: "100%. I 10x'd my investment on a single client. This is one of the highest-leverage investments you can make." And she's right. Because your personal brand is one input that keeps working long after you've done the...

Hi Reader, People tell me all the time that I'm "everywhere" on LinkedIn. It always makes me laugh a little, because I post maybe 3-4 times a week and spend about 30-60 minutes a day on here. (Which, for a LinkedIn person, is honestly probably too little.)So why does it feel like I'm “everywhere”? It’s not because I'm posting constantly or gaming the algorithm. I'm "everywhere" because I'm off doing the actual work, having real conversations, and those conversations turn into real...

Hi Reader, I lied in my post last week. I shared that I hit 20k followers, but that’s not entirely true. 10k of those came before I even started my business. And they're not really "followers." They're connections I made, one by one, profile by profile. Let me explain. Before NearPoint and before being a sales leader, I spent 5 years as a sales professional whose entire job was to bring in business. So that's what I did. I reached out to people all day, and then in the evenings (before I had...
